A.) The WBS for your class project – using the WBS tab of the Generic Workbook template .
B.) Duration Estimate view – this is documented in the Duration Estimate tab in the Generic Workbook – you will need your WBS in this tab, along with duration estimates for each task, as well as the Start and Finish date for each task (see the Duration Estimate example in the Unit 3 slide package in Doc Sharing for the format to use). Estimate durations and provide dates for every task in the WBS. There is also another example of this view in Doc Sharing called “Unit 3 Duration Estimate-Skillset View Example”. This view addresses items 1 – 3 in the grading rubric table.
C.) Skill Set view. This view shows how much time each resource (skill set) will spend on the tasks they are assigned to (see the Unit 3 Skillset View Example file in Doc Sharing for the format to use) – this view is documented in the Roll Up Est tab of the Generic Workbook template and an additional example is available in a file in Doc Sharing called “Unit 3 Duration Estimate-Skillset View Example”. This view addresses items 4 – 6 in the grading rubric table.
D.) Network Diagram view – this view is documented on the Network tab of the Generic Workbook – only diagram the Level 2 tasks from your WBS (1.0, 2.0, 3.0….). As indicated in our seminar discussion, if you are not comfortable creating the diagram in Excel, but are familiar with creating these types of flowchart diagrams in Word or Visio, you may use Word or Visio for this view. MS Project should not be used. There are examples of network diagrams in the textbooks, in the Unit 3 seminar slides, and also in the Network tab of the Generic Workbook template. This view addresses items 7 – 9 in the grading rubric table.
E.) Gantt Chart view – this view is documented on the Gantt tab of the Generic Workbook – only build the gantt for Level 2 tasks also (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc.). The bars are built by coloring in each cell in the row to build the length of the bar (right click in the cell in the row for a particular task and fill in a color – do this for each cell from left to right to build the length (duration) of the bar. Remember, all tasks do not start on the far left left-hand side of the worksheet (the left side is the beginning of the project). Start the bar at the point in your schedule where the task starts. There is an example of a gantt chart in the Generic Workbook template. This view addresses items 10 and 11 in the grading rubric table.
